Brinn Black gives fans personal touch

Other than the many concerts that highlight CMA Music Festival, another big attraction is the opportunity to interact with their favorite stars. They can do this by standing in the artist’s autograph line or by attending a fan club party. This year, many artists worked to make sure they made their fans feel special. One artist that I was particularly impressed by was Brinn Black.

Black showed that it was the small things that made all the difference. For example, after doing shows and meeting fans on Saturday, she could have gone home and crashed. But she didn’t. She headed straight to her oven to bake some home made cookies for her fans to eat at Sunday’s fan club party. Each cookie was even personalized with a pink letter “B.” The work paid off, as her fans really appreciated the gesture. The cookies were so popular, in fact, that she said she believes she started a new tradition.

Another unique thing Black and her team did was hold a focus group right before the fan club party. She said the focus group consisted of about 20 people and they listened to a few new songs and offered feedback. The favorite song of the group was “Hands of Fate,” and Black indicated that she was surprised by the result. “It’s not what I expected, but I was the one that pushed for that song to be recorded so I am glad they liked it,” she said.

Overall, she called the 2010 CMA Music Festival “a whirlwind of excitement.” During the four-day festival, she did six shows and held her first fan club party. “I met some new fans and reconnected with some old ones,” she said.
